Noma, René Redzepi’s groundbreaking destination restaurant, reopened to critical acclaim in 2018 in a new location in Copenhagen, Denmark. The venue showcases some extraordinary Danish craftsmanship through its complex design details—yet more impressive still is its overall aesthetic: an understated and atmospheric space more akin to that of a chic farmhouse than of a traditional hospitality venue.

From the after-hours project of a small group of friends in Stockholm to a global brand with local roots: Our/Vodka has grown to have a definitive style, as exemplified in Our/Berlin’s latest colorful editorial.

Crafted in six micro-distilleries around the world—Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Detroit, Los Angeles and New York—Our/Vodka has an emphasis on sourcing their ingredients as locally as possible. As such, though there is but one recipe used across the board, you can taste the differences of each city. Clean-tasting and slightly fruity, the vibrant nature of this clear liquor comes to life in an editorial shot by Berlin-based photographer Maximilian Mouson. In contrast to the minimal identity design of the Our/Vodka brand, Our/Berlin has delved into a brilliantly rich world of color, creating a pastiche of retro design and clean modern lines that the brand calls “’88 meets ’18”.

In cooperation with Our/Vodka.

Japanese art director, Yuni Yoshida has created a surrealist series in which collections of food appear to have been manually pixelated.

This division into pixels is not to disguise the identity of the pineapple, nor is it to split the image of the burger into colored particles for correct display or storage in digital format. Instead, Yoshida’s rendering of fruit, vegetable, and burger takes their organic forms and re-configures their colors in cubes, perfect in their repetition and size. Yoshida has developed quite a name for her surrealist work which frequently employs commonplace items or scenarios in subversive situations.

The delightfully-named ‘Wardrobe Snacks’ series is a collaboration between photographer Kelsey McClellan and art director Michelle Maguire, who together form the collective ‘Dusty’. Styled with retro clothing in satisfying palettes, the series features close-ups of hands elegantly holding a range of snacks, from an ice cream cone to an oyster, against carefully chosen clothing color schemes: coffee against cream, a donut against orange. “Wardrobe Snacks was inspired by diners lacking the luxury of being seated at a table,” explains McClellan, who describes the spaces her series portrays as “informal — perhaps even a bit awkward — as far as eating is concerned, yet the diner always appears to be comfortable and perfectly satisfied with his chosen snack, almost zen-like.”

American photography duo Barbara Ciurej and Lindsay Lochman created a series of whimsical landscape images made of processed foods. Titled ‘Processed Views‘, the project explores industrial food production and how moving further away from our food sources can lead to environmental and health consequences. Not only are the images composed of processed foods, such as Froot Loops and slices of bologna, the images themselves also appear to be over-processed and edited, which seems to emphasize ideas of consumption and the changing industrial landscape.
