Known for his dreamy creations, Davis Ayer comes back with a magnificent, surreal series called ‘Time Travel’, where the LA-based photographer illuminates the memories on nude bodies. Compressing emotions, time and consciousness, Ayer creates hazy photographs of vintage images projected on naked bodies. Trees blowing in the summer breeze, the impressions of big cities and blurry traces of the past create a map of personal experience. However, while exploring our connection with memories, the photographer does something unexpected: the memories illuminated on the body are not necessarily identified with this person’s life. Playing with concepts, the artist studies how much we can emphasize with other people’s experience and with past in general.

Japanese photographer Shuji Kobayashi captures intimate portraits of young women in dream-like surroundings. His sensuous images are saturated in natural light and evoke a sense of nostalgia and fantasy. Kobayashi moved to the US when he was younger to pursue a career as a film director but eventually began shooting photographs for fashion and film magazines. The photographer now lives and works in Tokyo.

Brazilian photographer Tuane Eggers captures dreamy photographs of her partner and friends in natural surroundings. In addition to her ethereal aesthetic, portraying the relationship between humans and nature seems to be a common thread to her work. In an interview, Eggers says, “What I like in photography is the act of collecting the world – the world that we live in or the world that we imagine. And the magic of photography is that each picture contains a trace of reality.”

Psychedelic Portraits By Dennis Auburn

Texas-based photographer Dennis Auburn shot a series of psychedelic portraits by overlaying projections of bright colors and forms on a model. The series, titled ‘Aura’, features mesmerizing photographs of a model in various poses where the cosmic lights seem to compliment her facial expressions and body language. In an interview about his work, the 22-year-old photographer says, “I don’t ever try to convey a particular message with my work. When I take photos, it sparks some sort of feeling, and I hope that same feeling comes across through my work.”

In the series ‘Weightlessness’, French fashion photographer Adeline Mai captures dreamy images of models suspended gracefully underwater. The photographs, which are saturated in warm tones, are part of a personal project and see human bodies sensually floating in various positions, as if they’re flying. Based in Paris, Mai has photographed for the likes of Elle France, Vogue Paris, Nylon and Vice.

Ukraine-based photographer Oleg Oprisco captures ethereal images that look like they came straight out of a fairytale. Born in the small town of Lviv, Oprisco has been working in the realm of photography since he was 16 years old and is now based in Kiev. His distinct aesthetic is a mixture of dreamy and fantastical with a hint of melancholy. In an interview with 500px, he reveals that he shoots only with “medium format film” and spends a lot of time at flea markets searching for props.

Katharina Jung is a talented young photographer from Hermeskeil, Germany who got recently selected into Flickr’s favourite 20under20 photographers. With her photography, that consists of a mix of daydreams and fairytales, she creates her perfect world that she’d like to live in. She enjoys living close to nature, surrounded by animals and the woods.

Since February 2013, she creates her dreamy, surreal imagery. After finishing her diploma as a media designer in June 2014 she’s traveling to Bali and through New Zealand with her camera. In the future she’d also like to work as an animal rights activists.

We’ve featured Japan-based photographer Tomoyuki Shinohara previously in our Flickr Favs. His pictures reflect the craft of slow imagery making like we used to do it back in the days. Shinohara shoots exclusively on film, creating pictures that carry a calm serenity and tranquil mood. Most of his images are shot in foggy/golden sunlight that make us want to warp ourselves up in a warm blanket and go on a long walk in the cold autumn air or just sit at the window and watch the sun go down, sipping a cup of hot tea. Tina Sosna also know as worteinbildern is a young photographer from Germany. Most of her images tell about her days that she likes to spent in the woods, surrounded by books or with her boyfriend. Most of her analogue images feature herself as a subject, capturing her adventures and the little treasures she finds on her excursion in the nature.

We especially enjoy that magical glow in her imagery, that stresses the ephemerality of the moment even more, reminding us to enjoy every second we get to spend outside and with our loved ones.
