Digital Artist Elodie Milan alias “Artmour“ makes collages by layering incoherent images and in this way creates new inspiring impressions. In this process she uses various fashion editorials, mixes them up and reinterprets patterns, fabric structures and picture composition. Milan experiments with the rearrangement of classic art pieces as well as with viewing habits created by advertising industry to provoke a novel visual experience.

Handmade Paper Collage Art By Annalynn Hammond

Wisconsin-based artist Annalynn Hammond is best known for her unique hand-cut paper collages. Her collages are made from vintage textbooks and natural history magazines. Through her work she seeks to question the dichotomies that play in the world of human ideas. For her collages, the artist combines different subject areas including, human and animal, body and soul, mind and machine, culture and nature, purity and sin, power and weakness, and many other antitheses. Her surreal collages encourage the viewer to ask questions and think about the extremes within the pictures. Hammond enjoys her work for both its thingness and its thoughtness. The single images are undeniably someone else’s work, which were found, stolen, destroyed and appropriated. But a thing in itself has no meaning. The idea of a collage is to cut a special image region out and paste it into another picture, giving a new context to the assembled artwork. You can purchase here work here.

Josh Faux’s Reinvention Of The Soul

Photographed by Josh Faux and edited by Lola Dupre, the series titled ‘Reinvention of the Soul’ was produced for Old Tat Magazine, published in The SS16 Monochrome with a Dash of Colour Issue, and was also shown during The Aniticlone X exhibition with creative director and model Sade English at No Format Gallery. The series consists of collages formed from portraits by Faux. Dupre`s intention was to create completely new perspectives and narratives of the individual photographs. Unusual, almost supernatural looking collages of faces are catching the attention of the beholder. By using scissors, Dupre manipulates the pictures to create a new meaning to the original image. One technique she uses is cloning some facial features and moving them around to create a new person, making it look creepy or out of the ordinary. Almost looking like cubistic portraits, the artist is taking the original photo and displacing the area of the eye, using simple tools to make it look as realistic as possible. Intricate Collages Of Cities By Anastasia Savinova

Based in Sweden, visual artist Anastasia Savinova creates intricate collages of photographs from her travels to display each city’s own distinct atmosphere. Titled ‘Genius Loci’, the series of artworks was inspired by the ancient Roman term denoting the “protective spirit of a place”. Each of the collages consists of one large building, composed from various snapshots of parts and objects typical of the respective city. Holding a Master’s degree in design, Savinova has already exhibited her artworks throughout Sweden.

Speaking of the process behind the project, the artist says: “Travelling around cities and countries, I take pictures of buildings, look into windows sneakily, go to local shops, flea markets and bars, watch everyday life – all this helps to build the feeling of the place.”
