Karoline Hjorth and Riitta Ikonen created the series ‘Eyes as Big as Plates’ that portrays local senior heroes, sailors, retired agronomes and 90-year old parachuters from Norway.
Says the duo about the project: “Starting out as a play on characters from Nordic folklore, the series has evolved into a continual search for modern human’s belonging to nature. Each character inhabits the landscape in wearable sculptures made from natural materials.” Currently, the team is running a Kickstarter campaign to fund a book that includes over 50 portraits.
