Originally from Bergamo, a city in Northern Italy close to the Alps, Stella Asia Consonni now lives and works in East London as an art director and photographer.
Since graduating from University of the Arts London Consonni has mostly been shooting high-end fashion editorials and worked with magazines such as Wonderland, Dazed and Vice. For personal projects the photographer goes back to analogue and travels beyond the borders of the United Kingdom. On of her recent trips brought her to the United States…
“I started my journey in Marfa. A creepy old town hidden in the far West Texan desert where abandoned hicks’ shacks share perimeter walls with an exclusive art community. “The unreal silence made my ears ring” The scorching sun transformed every grain of dust in a sharp presence, scratching unforgivably my corneas. The unreal silence made my ears ring, at the point I didn’t know if I could hear the white noise of the desert, or the aliens that are presumed to cause the Marfa lights were finally communicating with me, or I was just imagining it all.”
