On show at Zona Tortona, at this year’s Salone del Mobile is ‘Norwegian Presence’: an exhibition demonstrating the power of community in the Norwegian design industry.
Based on ‘fellesskap’, a term that denotes community, cooperation and shared goals in Norwegian, the collaborative exhibition is an aesthetic example of togetherness. Showcasing a selection of designers who are blending ancient making traditions with new technologies, and manufacturers who help works come to life, the exhibition celebrates the craft and community of design. “Our aim,” Grete Sivertsen the Project Manager of ‘Norwegian Presence’, explains “is to create a social meeting place where visitors can experience the drive behind Norwegian making and share in the positive atmosphere that our sense of fellesskap generates.” From furniture, to textiles, lighting, sculpture, tableware and installation work, Zona Tortona is full of design pieces equally beautiful as they are intriguing. Here, designers and manufacturers are placed side by side, adhering to the line from the press package of ‘Norwegian Presence’ which states that “in Norway, nothing is made alone.”
‘Norwegian Presence’ is on show at Salone del Mobile until the 22nd of April.
