From the historic charm of the Arnold Circus bandstand to the boutiques of Redchurch Street, it’s hard not to fall for the manyfold charms of East London’s Shoreditch.
During a recent sojourn in the city’s eastern quarters, we took a laid-back Sunday stroll through the cobblestoned streets of Shoreditch, taking our time to savor its delights. We had the pleasure of being hosted by onefinestay in their Hoxton Square apartment, where we spent a relaxed morning before wrapping up warm to brave the unpredictable weather to explore our temporary neighborhood. Along the way, we collected some of our favorite destinations.

We awoke to the pale morning sun streaming through windows overlooking the rooftops of Shoreditch. In our Hoxton Square loft apartment, we awoke to the pale morning sun streaming through generous windows overlooking the quaint brick rooftops of Shoreditch, backdropped by the city’s skyscrapers. The exposed brick, bright white walls and polished wooden floors of the open plan space provided a luxurious setting for a lazy morning spent indulging in coffee and pastry before we set off to wander the surrounding streets.

This small but charming cobblestoned street overflows with endless bunches of flowers, succulents, greenery and herbs. Our first destination was Columbia Road. Every Sunday morning, this small but charming cobblestoned street overflows with endless bunches of flowers, succulents, greenery and herbs. In addition to the season’s finest floral offerings, the market provides plentiful opportunities for coffee and breakfast. Fronted by colorful doors and handcrafted signage, the boutiques lining the pavement offer an eclectic assortment of homeware, hand-picked stationery and design objects. Buskers, street food vendors and antique markets come together to create an uplifting, bustling atmosphere. On that note, an early start helps to get ahead of the throng of fellow plant lovers.

If there were ever a reason to get excited about household chores, it would be a visit to Labour And Wait. A breadboard outside the store’s glossy green-tiled exterior promises “functional products for household, kitchen and garden”. Inside, a diverse collection of everything one might possibly need for the home is arranged in eye-catching displays. From feather dusters and enamel bread bins to tea towels twine, each item thoughtfully handpicked according to its practical and aesthetic properties.

This New Zealand-owned all-day cafe takes its coffee very seriously.London is by no means short of Antipodean coffee roasters and cafes, but Ozone stands out above the rest for the quality of its brews, its cozy atmosphere and its innovative brunch menu. This New Zealand-owned all-day cafe takes its coffee very seriously. A strong flat white and a delicious egg-based breakfast feast later, we picked up a bag of beans to take home as a souvenir.
