Architecture practice Carvalho Araújo designed a concrete retreat located in the lush landscape of Caniçada Valley in Portugal.
The materials used to build the two-story structure are a combination of concrete, wood and glass. Additionally, the large interior spaces featuring a panoramic window facade open to the surrounding nature through a spacious terrace. The studio is based both in Portugal and Brazil and combines the disciplines of architecture and design. In a statement about the project, the studio says: “The new construction relates with the land in a very spontaneous way, taking advantage of its steep slope, of the small stream and of the privileged view over the landscape.”
